My acceptance arrived at last
Surprisingly I didn’t get too excited about it when I saw the email – I mostly just felt relieved. Of course that didn’t stop me ringing my parents straight away to tell them, but then that was largely because Dad had been on my back about how long it was taking. And then he immediately started listing all the stuff I’d have to do next…
Booking the flights is what made it sink in that I’m actually going to Japan. Or rather, $2696 later I really hope nothing will happen to prevent me going D: Man, laying out that much money all at once is painful.
I’ll be arriving at KIX on Saturday August 29th at 8:40am, flying Singapore Airlines (yay!), with a 6 hour layover in Singapore (less yay). And arriving home on December 23rd, since my family want me to be home before Christmas.
… unfortunately sorting out all these things has completely distracted me from studying from tomorrow’s Japanese test. I’d better go do that now.
Congrats
Man your ticket was expensive! For that price I’d be paying to take JAL for the 13 hour flight from the states to Japan LOL. I think everyone is going to arrive the first we are allowed to get there. Honestly, I’d come the last day if I had a free place to stay in Tokyo, but I feel bad with my dad paying for it, I want to get to the dorm ASAP since it’s free. But then again, who knows what will happen. I am thinking about leaving a day or 2 late. I was thinking on the 21… I might do the 22 though.
So are you homestaying or gonna be in the dorms?
It doesn’t look quite as bad converted to US$ (only $1711!) but still. I wanted to arrive as early as possible so I could get myself somewhat oriented before the actual ‘orientation’ starts.
I’m hoping to do homestay so I’ll have more chance to improve at Japanese. I’ve never stayed in a dorm before and I’m not particularly keen to try it XD
That’s more expensive than my ticket still… well, I haven’t bought it yet but the prices, unless they change are a bit cheaper. Yeah I was wondering since there are like 3 days for people to arrive, what we do those 3 days? Will they have stuff planned for us like tours of Kyoto and Osaka and Hirakata or just like hang around and get over jet lag?
Aww… well I’ll miss you in the dorms
o.o My ticket was 750 bucks or so. I didn’t get round trip, because my mom and I are gonna see how it all goes. :3 Congrats on finally being accepted! Now, all we can do is wait for the CoE. Cheers!
Congratulations!
Woo! Congrats Steph!
Ouch at the ticket tho – but meh! Whatever it takes to get to Japan!
See you there!
